In addition to annual funding, the Museum raises money for special projects, such as building restorations, renovations and new exhibits. Current projects are:
Symbol of Truth and Law: The Campaign to Restore the Historic Courtroom
In 1894, during his dedication of Waukesha County’s second courthouse, Judge A. Scott Sloan asked that we see the building as a “temple of justice…where men meet upon perfect equality. I trust this building will stand as a symbol of truth and law through generations to come.”
While the Courthouse does indeed still stand, the courtroom was changed into offices and the furnishings and stained glass windows were auctioned off. The Museum is actively raising funds to restore the courtroom to its original grandeur.
The Les Paul Experience
Over 5,000 square-feet on the second floor of the Museum will tell the story of the Wizard of Waukesha, Les Paul, who changed the world of music. In this highly interactive exhibit, visitors will be immersed in Les’ world as they learn how Waukesha influenced Les and Les influenced the world.
The story will begin at Les’ boyhood home as you learn about the boy inventor and his hometown. You will experience Les’ inventions and performances over an amazing seven decades. Learn how the Wizard of Waukesha created a revolution in the music world. You will see guitars old and new, of course, and view films of Les’ legendary performances.
